Property owners in Georgetown County will receive a letter from the Auditor's Office soon informing them of upcoming changes to how they file returns. The change is intended to make the process easier for property owners.

The letter informs property owners that if they rent their property furnished, they are required to file with the South Carolina Dept. of Revenue at MyDORWAY (sc.gov) from 2023 on. It also advises them if they do not rent or if they rent unfurnished, they are no longer required to file return with the Georgetown County auditor's office. This was an undue burden on the taxpayers who never rented, said Georgetown County Auditor Ken Baker.
