Coastal Carolina University pitcher Cameron Flukey has been named to the 2026 Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List. The award, presented by USA Baseball, is given each year to the top amateur baseball player in the United States.
Flukey’s recognition comes after a strong 2025 season and several preseason honors ahead of the new campaign. He was selected as the 2026 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year and earned a spot on the Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Team. Flukey also received the 2026 Baseball America Preseason Pitcher of the Year award and was unanimously chosen for the Baseball America Preseason First Team All-America.
Additional accolades include D1Baseball Preseason First-Team All-America, Perfect Game Preseason First-Team All-America, Perfect Game Preseason Pitcher of the Year, and a place on both the Perfect Game Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Team and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association First Team All-America.
During last season, Flukey appeared in 18 games with 17 starts. He recorded an 8-2 win-loss record with a 3.19 ERA over 101.2 innings pitched. He struck out 118 batters, held opponents to a .209 batting average, and threw a complete-game shutout against Marshall on April 18. In postseason play, he pitched 22 innings with 25 strikeouts during NCAA Tournament games, including ten innings and twelve strikeouts at the College World Series in Omaha.
The Golden Spikes Award watch list will be reduced throughout the season: a midseason list will be released on April 2; semifinalists will be announced May 14; finalists will be named June 10; and the winner will be revealed June 29 during an MLB Network broadcast.
Coastal Carolina enters this season ranked No.6 nationally by D1Baseball and is set to open at home against Fairfield on February 13.
The full preseason watch list includes players from across college baseball such as Jarren Advincula (Georgia Tech), Trey Beard (Florida State), Daniel Cuvet (Miami), Ryder Helfrick (Arkansas), Aidan Knaak (Clemson), Tony Pluta (Arizona), Mackenzie Wainwright (Lenoir-Rhyne), among others.
