Coastal Carolina falls to Georgia Southern in women’s basketball matchup

Coastal Carolina women’s basketball lost to Georgia Southern 67-56 on Saturday in Statesboro, Georgia. The Chanticleers led after the first quarter, with Tessa Grady hitting a three-pointer in the final minute to put them ahead 18-17. Georgia Southern took control late in the second quarter and held a 30-29 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, Coastal Carolina struggled offensively, scoring only nine points while Georgia Southern extended its lead to 15. The Chanticleers narrowed the gap to six points in the fourth quarter but could not get closer as Georgia Southern secured the win.

Tessa Grady was Coastal’s top scorer for the sixth consecutive game, finishing with 14 points. Kristin Williams added 12 points. As a team, Coastal Carolina shot 32 percent from the field and made 41 percent of their three-point attempts. They converted 13 of their 17 free throws.

Coastal Carolina will return home to play Appalachian State on Wednesday, February 18, with tip-off scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on ESPN+.
