Coastal Carolina men’s golf finishes eighth at Bulls Bay tournament

Coastal Carolina finished in eighth place at the Hootie Intercollegiate, which concluded on March 24 at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, South Carolina. The team posted a three-round total score of 855, finishing nine under par.

The event saw Coastal Carolina in contention for a top-five finish entering the final round. However, after recording a seven-over-par 295 on Tuesday’s closing round, the team slipped two spots on the leaderboard.

College of Charleston won the team title with a score of 35-under par. South Carolina finished second at 29-under, and Kansas placed third at 19-under. Purdue and Clemson tied for fourth place with scores of 16-under par each.

Drew Sykes led Coastal Carolina individually by finishing sixth overall at seven under par for the tournament. Sykes recorded rounds of 65, 70, and 74 to remain inside the top ten throughout all three days despite ending with a two-over-par final round. Jack Lee completed his rounds at two under par (71-69-72), Harrison James finished one over (69-70-78), Santiago Schele ended three over (72-72-75), and Max Bengtsson closed out five over (72-71-74).

Frankie Harris from South Carolina claimed individual medalist honors with a twelve-under-par performance.

Looking ahead, Coastal Carolina is scheduled to compete next at the Mossy Collegiate in West Point, Mississippi on April 13 and April 14.
