Coastal Carolina men’s golf in sixth place after two rounds at Hootie Intercollegiate

Coastal Carolina is in sixth place at the Hootie Intercollegiate after posting a 5-under-par 283 in Monday’s second round, according to a March 23 update from the team. The tournament is being held at Bulls Bay Golf Club.

The team now sits at a total of 16-under-par 560 through two rounds, trailing College of Charleston, South Carolina, Purdue, Kansas, and Clemson going into Tuesday’s final round.

Drew Sykes leads Coastal Carolina individually and is tied for fifth overall with a score of 9-under-par 135 after shooting rounds of 65 and 70. The sophomore’s second round included three birdies. Freshman Harrison James finished the day at 2-under-par for a tournament total of 5-under-par (139). Junior Jack Lee improved his standing with a second-round score of one under par (71), bringing him to two under par for the event (142).

Freshman Santiago Schele shot an even-par round on Monday and remains even for the tournament. Senior Max Bengtsson added a one-over-par round to close out Coastal Carolina’s scoring on day two.

As a group, the Chanticleers recorded fourteen birdies during Monday’s play and remain among the top half of the fifteen-team field as they head into Tuesday’s final round.
