Coastal Carolina University’s track and field team completed the first day of competition at the Raleigh Relays on Mar. 26, with athletes participating in long-distance and throwing events.
The meet featured several notable performances for Coastal Carolina. Mia Lewis finished in 30th place in the women’s javelin throw with a mark of 35.64 meters, while Joe Rome secured a 39th-place finish in the men’s shot put, reaching a distance of 14.00 meters.
The Raleigh Relays is an important event for collegiate athletes to compete against peers from other universities, providing opportunities to improve personal records and gain experience ahead of conference championships.
Competition will continue tomorrow, with day two beginning at 10:00 a.m., according to organizers.
