The Coastal Carolina University men’s and women’s track and field teams will participate in the Raleigh Relays from Thursday to Saturday, according to a March 25 announcement.
The event gives both teams an opportunity to compete against strong opponents as they look to build on recent performances. Several athletes recently achieved notable marks at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
For the men’s team, Josh Richardson recorded a high jump of 2.11 meters, which is the third-best mark in school history. Joseph Norrby ran the 400 meters in 47.61 seconds, placing him tenth all-time at Coastal Carolina.
On the women’s side, Emelia Thurston reached a distance of 5.99 meters in the long jump—the second-best performance ever for Coastal Carolina’s women’s program. Maria Helga Hognadottir earned 4,992 points in the heptathlon, ranking third in school history for that event. Ticora Gaskin also made her mark with a long jump of 5.97 meters, making it the third-best result for her school.
