Coastal Carolina lost a close 12-11 overtime game against Stetson on March 21, despite a strong second-half comeback and a career-high five goals from Alexandra Horn.

The match was significant as it marked Coastal Carolina’s second conference loss of the season, bringing their record to 6-4 overall and 0-2 in Athletic Sun play. The Chanticleers outshot Stetson by a wide margin, but could not secure the win in extra time.

Stetson built an early lead with four first-quarter goals and extended it to 9-3 by halftime. Coastal Carolina responded with an aggressive third quarter, scoring five times—including two from Horn and consecutive goals from Alyson Mascolo—to narrow the gap to 10-8. Sophie Kingsborough contributed two goals, including a shorthanded effort late in the third quarter, while Nikki Seven provided four assists.

In the fourth quarter, Coastal Carolina tied the game at 11-11 with goals from Horn, Kingsborough, and Seven. The Chanticleers limited Stetson to just two goals over the final thirty minutes of regulation. Goalkeeper Charlotte Sadler recorded six saves for Coastal Carolina. Despite controlling possession—winning draw controls 16-10 and committing only eight turnovers—the team was unable to overcome Stetson goalkeeper Maddie Eckert’s performance with eighteen saves.

Coastal Carolina will return home for their next game against Old Dominion on Wednesday, March 25 at Brooks Stadium.
