The Coastal Carolina women’s lacrosse team earned a 17-5 win over Austin Peay in an Atlantic Sun Conference game on March 28 at Brooks Stadium.

The result marks an important conference victory for the Chanticleers, who improved their overall record to 8-4 and notched their first conference win of the season. The Governors dropped to 4-8 and remain winless in league play.

Coastal Carolina took control early, scoring five goals in the opening quarter with contributions from Megan Hummel, Alyson Mascolo, Sophie Kingsborough, and Gabrielle Beaudet. The momentum continued into the second period as the team added six more goals for an 11-1 halftime lead. Kingsborough led all scorers with a career-high five goals. Carleigh Patterson contributed three goals and one assist, while Alexandra Horn had one goal and three assists. Beaudet finished with two goals as seven players recorded assists for Coastal Carolina.

The Chanticleers made use of free-position opportunities by scoring three times and added three player-up scores during the contest. They also controlled possession with a 16-8 advantage in draw controls and outshot Austin Peay by a margin of 31-14.

On defense, Coastal limited Austin Peay to just one goal in the first half and five total for the game. Goalkeeper Charlotte Sadler made five saves before being replaced by Kylie Pastor after halftime.
