Alexandra Horn contributed six points, including two goals and four assists, as the Coastal Carolina women’s lacrosse team secured a 12-8 win against East Carolina on Saturday at Bill Clark Homes Field at Johnson Stadium in Greenville, North Carolina.

Coastal Carolina maintained the lead throughout the match, starting with three consecutive goals and holding a 7-4 advantage at halftime. The Chanticleers extended their lead to five early in the fourth quarter before East Carolina attempted a late comeback. However, Coastal managed to hold off the Pirates and finish with a four-goal victory.

Four players from Coastal Carolina had multiple goals: Megan Hummel, Sophie Kingsborough, Evelyn Kitchin, and Alexandra Horn each scored twice. Additional goals came from Nikki Seven, Carleigh Patterson, Gabrielle Beaudet, and Alyson Mascolo.

Goalkeeper Charlotte Sadler made 13 saves for Coastal Carolina while facing 29 shots from East Carolina.

After an opening goal by Hummel just over a minute into play, Kingsborough and Kitchin followed to give Coastal an early 3-0 lead. East Carolina responded with two late first-quarter goals but was met by another three-goal run from Coastal in the second quarter. This gave the Chanticleers a three-goal cushion heading into halftime.

East Carolina narrowed the margin in the fourth quarter; however, goals from Kitchin and Hummel allowed Coastal to maintain control until the end of the game.

The Chanticleers will play again on Wednesday, February 18th at Charlotte. The match is set for a 4 p.m. start.
