Coastal Carolina women’s tennis defeats Marshall 4-3 at home

The Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team won against Marshall with a score of 4-3 on April 3 at the Stevens Tennis Complex in Conway, South Carolina.

This win brings Coastal Carolina’s season record to 12-3. The match was closely contested, with Marshall taking the doubles point after victories on courts one and two. However, Sarah Clark and Diana Zuba secured a doubles win for Coastal Carolina on court three.

In singles play, the Chanticleers responded strongly. Aida Mitrache earned a victory on court three, Brunelle Kouam won on court one, and Diana Zuba added another point from court two. Although Marshall picked up singles wins on courts four and six, it was Sarah Clark who clinched the overall match for Coastal Carolina by winning her contest on court five.

Detailed results show Mokrynska/Strom (Marshall) defeated Kouam/Laundes (Coastal) 6-2 in doubles, while Copley/El Ouazzani (Marshall) beat Mitrache/Rogers (Coastal) 6-4. Clark/Zuba gave Coastal its only doubles win with a 6-2 result over Berzina/Gumeniuk.

In singles action: Kouam defeated Strom (6-2, 6-4), Zuba beat Gumeniuk (6-2, 6-3), Mitrache overcame Mokrynska (6-2, 6-2), Copley bested Laundes (6-3, 0-6, 6-3), Clark rallied past El Ouazzani (3-6, 6-1, 6-3), and Smith topped Rogers (7-5, 6-2).

The Chanticleers are scheduled to play again tomorrow against App State at home.
