Coastal Carolina women’s tennis defeats UNCW in close 4-3 match

The Coastal Carolina women’s tennis team defeated the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) 4-3 on March 30 in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The win brings Coastal Carolina’s season record to 10-3. The match was closely contested, with UNCW taking the doubles point after victories on courts one and three. However, Aida Mitrache and Brooke Rogers secured a win for Coastal Carolina on court two in doubles play.

In singles competition, UNCW claimed victories on courts one and two. Coastal Carolina responded with wins from Mitrache on court three, Francisca Laundes on court four, Sarah Clark on court five, and Rogers on court six to secure the overall victory for the team.

The detailed results showed that Elif Albayrak and Eda Arli of UNCW won their doubles match against Brunelle Kouam and Laundes in a tiebreaker. On singles courts, Mitrache defeated Simay Keles of UNCW in straight sets while Laundes won her three-set match against Lucia Gomez. Clark and Rogers also contributed important singles wins for Coastal Carolina.

Looking ahead, the Chanticleers are scheduled to play Gardner-Webb next before hosting Sun Belt Conference matches against Marshall and Appalachian State.
