Congressman Russell Fry, representing South Carolina’s 7th district since 2023, recently took to social media to express his views on a legislative session concerning Medicaid. Fry, who succeeded Tom Rice in the U.S. Congress and has a background in law, shared his thoughts through a series of tweets.
On May 13, 2025, Fry commented on the focus of a congressional discussion regarding Medicaid. He stated: “Someone didn’t know the assignment… We’re here to talk about strengthening MEDICAID. Democrats showed up to talk about something that’s not even in the bill”. This tweet suggests his discontent with the topics raised by some participants during the session.
Later that day, Fry provided an update on ongoing activities within a House committee. At 19:29 UTC, he tweeted: “Democrats in the @HouseCommerce markup right now.” This brief message indicates his observation of Democratic members’ involvement in the House Commerce Committee’s proceedings.
In another post made on May 14, 2025, at 01:30 UTC, Fry shared two links without additional commentary: “https://t.co/P2kzgw3mXZ https://t.co/kIZJCnj1aF”. The lack of context leaves room for interpretation regarding its relevance or connection to previous tweets.
Russell Fry was born in Surfside Beach, South Carolina in 1985 and currently resides in Murrells Inlet. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BA and earned a JD from Charleston School of Law. Before joining Congress, he served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022.
