Coastal Carolina University’s women’s lacrosse team began its 2026 season with a 19-10 victory over Longwood at Brooks Stadium on Friday. The Chanticleers held a 7-4 lead at halftime and increased their advantage by outscoring the Lancers 12-6 in the second half.
Alexandra Horn and Nikki Seven were the top performers for Coastal, each contributing four goals and two assists. Together, they accounted for 12 points in the match. Additional support came from Alyson Mascolo, who had two goals and an assist, while Sophie Kingsborough and Megan Hummel also scored twice each.
The game featured strong contributions from both experienced players and newcomers. Freshman Laken Wright scored in her debut for the Chanticleers, and senior Avery Przymylski found the net for her first goal since her freshman year.
Coastal started quickly with four goals in the first six minutes of play and did not fall behind at any point. By scoring six times in the third quarter, they extended their lead to 13-7 before entering the final period.
On defense, Coastal forced 16 turnovers, collected 19 draw controls, and took 41 shots compared to Longwood’s 23. Evelyn Kitchin led with 14 draw controls.
Goalkeeper Charlotte Sadler secured the win by making four saves during her time in goal, while Kylie Pastor contributed two saves after coming off the bench.
For Longwood, Madison Rogers led with four goals and Jordan Fitzgerald added two more.
Looking ahead, Coastal Carolina will continue its homestand against Presbyterian on Sunday, Feb. 8 at Brooks Stadium.
