Horry County Mosquito Control announced on Mar. 26 that it will start mosquito spraying operations at all county parks, recreation centers, and boat landings beginning Monday, April 6. The spraying will be conducted every ten days from Monday through Thursday between 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., weather permitting.

The schedule is set to continue through the end of July, after which Friday spraying will be added in August. The county encourages residents who keep beehives to register their colonies if they have not already done so.

These measures are being taken as mosquito season approaches in Horry County, which is located in northeastern South Carolina according to the official website. The county covers more than 1,000 square miles and is the largest by land area in the state according to the official website.

Horry County operates under a Council-Administrator form of government with the Horry County Council serving as its legislative body according to the official website. The county seat is Conway and public services include infrastructure development and public safety initiatives designed to enhance community well-being according to the official website.

Historic preservation efforts are also supported through initiatives like the Historic Preservation Commission according to the official website. These actions reflect Horry County’s commitment to resident needs and economic progress while maintaining safety measures such as mosquito control.
