Russell Fry, a U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina’s 7th district since 2023, has recently shared significant updates on social media. Born in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, and currently residing in Murrells Inlet, Fry has been active in politics since his tenure in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. He is an alumnus of the University of South Carolina and Charleston School of Law.
On March 17, 2025, Fry announced “Huge news for Marlboro County!” He reported that SOPAKCO is investing $22.8 million to expand its Bennettsville facility, while Bennettsville Printing is investing $8.4 million. These investments are expected to create 24 new jobs and have a significant impact on South Carolina’s 7th district and the state as a whole.
The following day, March 18, Fry expressed his enthusiasm about participating in the Marlboro County Economic Development Summit. He tweeted “It was an honor to join the Marlboro County Economic Development Summit! Marlboro County is full of opportunity and growth…” Fry reiterated his commitment to collaborating with local entities to foster continued growth in the region.
Later on March 18, Fry commended former President Donald Trump for his energy policies. He stated “President Trump has already saved Americans millions at gas stations across the country.” According to Fry, Trump’s plan for affordable energy is proving effective and promises further benefits.
