Georgetown County issued the following announcement on July 20.
Phase 2 of repairs on the Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk are slated to begin tomorrow, July 21. The wooden planks and rails along the Marsh Walk were replaced from the northern most part of the structure to the area between the Dead Dog Saloon and the Claw House restaurant during Phase 1.
Phase 2 will pick up where the last phase left off, repairing the remainder of the Marsh Walk as well as the Veterans Pier to the south.
“You can really tell a difference in the surfacing of phase 1 and phase 2 where they come together,” said Beth Goodale, director of Georgetown County Parks and Recreation, which maintains the Marsh Walk. “The new section looks really nice, so all of our restaurant owners are ready for us to begin on the Phase 2 project.”
As with Phase 1, work will be completed in small sections, allowing the Marsh Walk to remain open. Operations for restaurants along the Marsh Walk will not be impacted.
