City of Myrtle Beach issued the following announcement on August 10.
Two golds! Now that the Olympics are over, athletes who previously competed in Myrtle Beach won two Gold Medals in Japan… In all, nine track-and-field athletes at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games had competed at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium earlier in their careers. Katie Nageotte and Trevor Stewart both won Gold Medals in Tokyo, with Stewart also winning a Bronze Medal. Here’s how all nine fared in Japan.
• Katie Nageotte, Gold Medalist in the women’s pole vault, clearing 4.90m (16’ 0.75”). She competed for Ashland University as a collegian at the Shamrock Invitational in 2012.
• Trevor Stewart, earned a Gold Medal in the men’s 4x400mR, by running the lead-off leg in the heats with a split of 44.79 and was a member of the Bronze Medal mixed 4x400mR, splitting 44.94 on the lead-off leg in the final. Stewart still holds the Beach Run Invitational meet records in the 200m and 400m, set as a Virginia prep athlete in 2016.
• Tia Adana Belle, advanced to semi-finals of the 400mH, finished 22nd overall. Won the 400m at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in 2021 and 2019, represents Barbados in the 400m Low Hurdles in Tokyo.

Rowe has since lowered his personal record to 49.04 and represented Jamaica in Tokyo.
