City of Myrtle Beach: One penny buys a gallon of treated water in Myrtle Beach

Jklk

City of Myrtle Beach issued the following announcement on August 16.

Did you know... That a gallon of drinking water costs Myrtle Beach city residents less than one-fourth of a penny? That’s the price-per-gallon for the first 4,000 gallons of water each month, even with the small rate increase that took effect August 1. The cost includes the $3.17 base charge per month and the new use charge of $1.66 per 1,000 gallons, per month. Put another way, Myrtle Beach residents get four gallons of water for less than a penny, delivered on-demand, directly to your home, around-the-clock. At just 24.5 cents for 100 gallons, that’s a bargain. Residential customers who live outside the city limits pay twice as much as in-city residents, so a gallon of water costs them about half a cent, and 100 gallons is about 50 cents.
