City of Myrtle Beach issued the following announcement on August 13.
Myrtle Beach’s population grew by nearly 32 percent during the last 10 years! According to the US Census, 8,573 more people called Myrtle Beach “home” in the past decade. Official 2020 US Census numbers released today show that the City of Myrtle Beach’s population increased from 27,109 residents in 2010 to 35,682 residents by April 1, 2020. That’s a jump of 31.6 percent in 10 years. Note that these numbers are only for the city limits of Myrtle Beach, which consistently has been one of the fastest growing cities in the country in recent years. Horry County also experienced rapid growth during the past decade. The county’s total population jumped from 269,291 in 2010 to 351,029 in 2020, according to today’s Census release. That’s an increase of 30.35 percent, slightly less than the city’s percentage of growth.
