Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce: Tidelands Health partners with Brookgreen Gardens to offer COVID-19 vaccination clinic, free admission voucher to those vaccinated

Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on August 18.

Tidelands Health is partnering with Brookgreen Gardens to offer an added incentive to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The health system will offer no-cost vaccines during a special clinic Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gardener’s Cottage Ticket and Information Center, just inside the Highway 17 main gates at Brookgreen Gardens. Individuals who are vaccinated will receive a voucher for free admission to Brookgreen Gardens to use on the day of their choice. No admission to Brookgreen is needed to get the vaccine; anyone can simply walk in without an appointment and get the shot.

“Our friends at Brookgreen Gardens are so gracious to offer admission vouchers and a beautiful backdrop for those who stop by Aug. 25 to get the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccine,” said Kelly Kaminski, senior director of community health resources at Tidelands Health. “With COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surging, it’s crucial that everyone 12 and older get the vaccine. Our team continues to offer the vaccine in clinics, at area businesses, in our family medicine offices, during special events and now at one of the most popular attractions along the Grand Strand.

“We are committed to getting our community vaccinated and will continue to seek unique opportunities to reach even more people with the vaccine. It’s our best weapon against COVID-19.”

Tidelands Health and Brookgreen Gardens have a longstanding partnership to keep community members active and healthy through innovative walking programs and special events such as Night of a Thousand Steps during the holidays.

“This vaccination clinic is part of our ongoing partnership with Tidelands Health to support community wellness. Our partnership is an extension of the work of Brookgreen’s founders, Anna and Archer Huntington, who opened a free clinic on Brookgreen property 90 years ago when no other options were available. We hope community members will take advantage of this opportunity to get the COVID-19 vaccine during this special clinic and enjoy a visit to our beautiful gardens,” said Page Kiniry, President and CEO of Brookgreen Gardens.

In addition to the vaccination clinic at Brookgreen Gardens, Tidelands Health offers walk-in vaccination at three regional vaccination sites in Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet and Georgetown:

  • Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, Harris Medical Pavilion entrance, 606 Black River Road, Georgetown, every Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Waccamaw Medical Park West, 4040 Highway 17, Suite 204, Murrells Inlet, Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Tidelands Health Medical Park at The Market Common, 2200 Crow Lane, Myrtle Beach, Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Patients can also receive the vaccine during a regularly scheduled appointment at Tidelands Health Family Medicine locations. And the Tidelands Health community health resources team offers mobile vaccination clinics at businesses, churches and organizations in Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg counties. To request a no-cost, on-site clinic, an organization should email communitywellness@tidelandshealth.org or call 843-520-8586.

To date, Tidelands Health has administered nearly 80,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
