City of Myrtle Beach issued the following announcement on October 11.

Renovations are beginning at Midway Memorial Park on South Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach. The park by 20th Avenue South is getting a complete facelift. Pickleball courts there are used almost daily, and players are excited for the improvements. Here’s what the project includes:

∙ Six more pickleball courts (in addition to the four already there).

∙ Repair, resurfacing and lining of the basketball court and all pickleball and tennis courts.

∙ New nets for all courts.

∙ Removal and replacement of all current landscaping.

∙ New sidewalks.

∙ Removal of the green fence (will be replaced with decorative fencing along Kings Highway only).

∙ New light poles with LED lights.

The city is working out the best way to add dividers for pickleball courts, so stay tuned! The estimated completion date is the end of the year.
