Georgetown County issued the following announcement on October 13.
After skipping a year in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Georgetown County Tax Collector’s Office is getting ready for its annual Tax Sale. The event will take place Nov. 1 at Howard Auditorium, 1610 Hawkins St. Georgetown. Registered bidders can begin signing in that morning at 9 a.m. Bidding begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until all properties have been sold.
Bidders must pre-register by noon on Oct. 29 in order to participate in the sale. Pre-registration opens Oct. 14 and can be completed by visiting the Treasurer’s Office at 129 Screven St. Cost is $25 per bidder. Checks should be made out to Georgetown County. Bidders can also order a printed copy of the tax sale list for $50 or request a digital copy for $25.
Staff hopes to complete the sale in a single day, but have reserved the auditorium for Nov. 2 in case a second day is required.
“It’s hard to say how long it will take since we weren’t able to have the sale last year,” said Twanda Nesbit, Deputy Tax Collector.
