Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on October 13.
Lee's Inlet Apothecary is our October Leading Business of the Month sponsored by South State Bank.
If you've never been, it's part pharmacy, part gift shop and part soda fountain. A visit feels a little like stepping back in time in a good way. That was the goal for Willie Lee and his wife Melissa when they opened the store with the idea for a "drug store the way it used to be."
Lee's Inlet Apothecary opened and joined the chamber in 2002.
Inside you'll find a 1920s soda fountain that was originally on Rte. 66 in Oklahoma that was brought back to life in the shop in Murrells Inlet. They serve sweet treats daily and lunch on weekdays. You can find the menu on their website.
The gift shop inside is called Good Deed Goods. They give back a portion of their sales to a local, national and international charity.
The anchor of the store remains the pharmacy. Willie Lee has been a pharmacist for more than three decades.
