Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce: 100,000 doses of hope: Tidelands Health celebrates milestone while reflecting on COVID-19 journey,

3

Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on November 22.

Tidelands Health has administered its 100,000th dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, marking an incredible milestone in the health system’s ongoing and expansive efforts to guide the region through the deadly pandemic.

Since the vaccine’s arrival nearly a year ago, the not-for-profit health system has aggressively administered the lifesaving vaccine throughout the region to protect lives and limit the spread of the highly contagious COVID-19 virus.

“We’re proud to have administered this vaccine to tens of thousands of people across our region – everyone from first responders and teachers to concertgoers at Carolina Country Music Fest and athletes at Coastal Carolina University,” said Gayle Resetar, chief operating officer at Tidelands Health. “Vaccination is the key to keeping people healthy and protected from COVID-19. That’s all the motivation we need to step up and do whatever it takes to administer this vaccine safely and efficiently.”

For months, Tidelands Health has operated three regional vaccination sites in Georgetown and Horry counties, administering first, second, third and booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine. In addition, the health system continues to organize vaccination events across the community, partner with businesses and organizations to administer vaccine and educate community members on the importance of getting vaccinated.

The efforts have paid off. Georgetown and Horry counties have consistently ranked among the Top Three counties statewide in vaccination rate, according to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s vaccine dashboard.

“While we mark this milestone in our vaccination efforts, we aren’t letting up,” Resetar said. “We remain active administering first, second, third and booster doses in our three regional vaccination sites and in our physician offices. And with the recent expansion of vaccine eligibility to children ages 5 to 11, we’ve launched special efforts to reach this age group, including pediatric clinics after business hours to accommodate parents’ hectic schedules.”

The aggressive vaccination effort is part of Tidelands Health’s comprehensive strategy to lead the region through the COVID-19 pandemic. Since early 2020, dedicated and compassionate team members have cared for the sickest patients with COVID-19, comforted their relatives and sacrificed to serve the community. Tidelands Health has also offered leading treatments for the virus, including monoclonal antibody therapy.

“From caring for patients to providing groundbreaking treatments including monoclonal antibody infusions to administering lifesaving vaccine, Team Tidelands has truly been the leader in helping our community through this challenging and unprecedented period,” Tidelands Health President and CEO Bruce Bailey said in a video message to team members. “Today, let’s take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come in our efforts and know that better days are ahead.”
