Georgetown County issued the following announcement on December 6.
This year’s official Georgetown County holiday card will feature a painting by Waccamaw High School freshman Makayla Javoroski, 14. Javoroski’s work was selected from 450 entries received from students across the county.
Judging of the annual contest was extremely difficult this year, with quite a few truly exceptional entries, said county staff.
Second place for the contest, above, went to Gracy Potwin, a senior at Waccamaw High, and third place went to Ellisyn Byrdic, a 6th-grader at Rosemary Middle School. An honorable mention was given to Kennedi Collins, a senior at Carvers Bay High School.
The winning students will be recognized by County Council at its Dec. 14 meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m. in County Council Chambers in the historic courthouse on Screven St. Prizes for the winners will be provided by Anderson Bros. Bank.
