Horry Georgetown Technical College issued the following announcement on February 1.
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is proud to announce that the International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach (ICI) earned exemplary status for the Culinary Arts Program presented by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF). In addition, the Baking and Pastry associate in applied science program also earned its initial accreditation presented by the American Culinary Federation.
In recognition of these honors, badges were presented to the HGTC International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach. HGTC introduced the associate of applied science in Baking and Pastry to the state’s technical college curriculum in 2016 and is the first technical college in South Carolina to have its Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry Arts associates degree programs accredited by the American Culinary Federation.
Accreditation by American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission (ACFEFAC) assures that a program is meeting at least a minimum of standards and competencies set for faculty, curriculum, and student services. The HGTC International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach has earned the badge by demonstrating an understanding of and compliance with the ACFEF accreditation standards. The institute has been evaluated in Program Eligibility, Program Mission and Goals, Organization and Administration, Faculty and Staff, Curriculum, Facilities, Student Services, and Program Assessment.

Prospective students and employers can recognize the American Culinary Federation accreditation badge and feel confident that the culinary, baking and pastry programs offered at the International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach are programs of quality, integrity, and professionalism because they have met the rigorous standards set by ACFEF accreditation.”
