Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on February 8.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—Enjoy all-you-can-eat, freshly steamed oysters, chicken bog and live music from Marcus Cannon at the 13th Annual Shuckin’ on the Strand Oyster Roast. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Hot Fish Club at 4911 Highway 17 Business in Murrells Inlet.
Hosted by Grand Strand Young Professionals (GSYP) and sponsored by Grand Strand Health, the event is a fundraiser for Substitutes for Santa, which provides holiday gifts to approximately 120 Horry County students.
“All proceeds from ticket sales go toward creating a memorable Christmas shopping experience for more than 100 children in our area,” said Caroline Yahnis, GSYP liaison for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.
The event is open to the public. Adult tickets are $35, which includes all-you-can-eat oysters, one plate of chicken bog and fixings, and two drinks. Tickets are $10 for children ages 8 and under, or for those who wish to purchase the chicken bog only. A commemorative oyster shucker is available for $5.
All oysters from the event will be recycled with help from the South Carolina Dept. of Natural Resources. The recycled shells will be used to help manage oyster grounds and create new oyster reef habitat ensuring the shellfish can be enjoyed for years to come.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at MyrtleBeachAreaChamber.com.
