Georgetown County issued the following announcement on March 2.
Absentee voting (including in-person absentee) is now open for the March 29 special election that will fill a vacant seat on the Georgetown County School Board.
The vacant seat is “at large,” which means any registered voter in the county is eligible to vote in the special election. Additionally, school board seats are nonpartisan.
Absentee voting will be open until 5 p.m. the day before the election. Any voter who is unavailable to vote in person on the actual day of the election is eligible to vote absentee. In-person absentee votes may be cast from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Georgetown County Office of Elections and Voter Registration, located at 303 N. Hazard St., Georgetown. For more information about absentee voting, visit gtcounty.org/vote.
The special election will fill the seat vacated by Jim Dumm, who resigned in December after 27 years on the school board. Three candidates appear on the ballot for the vacant seat: Kathy Ferdon-Anderson, a former teacher who resides in Georgetown; Jon Tester, a retired school administrator who resides in the Pawleys Island area; and Scott DuBose, a retired VP of a management consulting firm who resides in the Pawleys Island area. The seat will be up for election again in November for a full term.
