Horry Georgetown Technical College: Celebrates South Carolina Technical College Week

50

Horry Georgetown Technical College issued the following announcement on March 14.

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is excited to announce South Carolina Technical College Week, March 21 through March 25. This is a spirit week celebration in conjunction with the entire South Carolina technical college community and in partnership with the statewide “I Defy” campaign.

The “I Defy” campaign is redefining how the world thinks about technical education by celebrating the power of South Carolina technical colleges and spotlighting the spirit of students defying traditions, norms, and expectations through a technical education.

“As we celebrate South Carolina Technical College Week, I am reminded of what has made HGTC the first choice for a college education. It is my hope that our students, alumni, faculty, and staff will get involved and show pride in HGTC throughout the week,” said Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, HGTC President.

Each day throughout the week, HGTC students, alumni, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in a different theme by sharing their stories, celebrating their accomplishments and more. By participating in the theme each day, sharing experiences, and using the hashtags #IDefySC and #SCTechWeek, participants will be entered to win over $5,000 in prizes and giveaways.

“With more than 160,000 students at 16 colleges – and a job placement rate of 91% – South Carolina’s Technical Colleges have a lot to celebrate. This year, we want our voices of celebration to ring loud and clear throughout the entire state,” continued President Fore.
