Jonathan Paris Elected To Sports Events & Tourism Association Board Of Directors

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) and Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce that Jonathan Paris, executive director of sports tourism, has been elected to the board of directors for the Sports Events and Tourism Association (Sports ETA).

Members of the association voted Paris to the board during their annual meeting, Sports ETA Symposium, held May 2 - 5, 2022, in Fort Worth, Texas. His three-year term will begin on July 1.

"We’re very pleased to announce Jonathan’s appointment to the Sports ETA board of directors,” said Bob Harris, executive vice president of group sales for the Myrtle Beach Area CVB. “His deep experience in sports tourism will be invaluable to this national association and its mission to serve its members.”

Sports ETA is a non-profit trade association for the sports events and tourism industry providing those responsible for organizing sports events with resources to grow professionally. The organization’s members include sports commissions, destination marketing organizations, parks and recreation departments, chambers of commerce, national governing bodies, multi-sport organizations, and vendors to the sports events and tourism industry.

The Sports ETA Board consists of the officers, the immediate past chair, 12 individuals representing destinations, two individuals representing industry partners and two individuals representing the rights holders. Board members serve as representatives of Sports ETA’s 600-plus member organizations and help guide the future direction of the association.

Paris has been part of the Myrtle Beach Area CVB Group Sales division since January 2018 and works to attract and accommodate sporting events within the Grand Strand through Visit Myrtle Beach and the Myrtle Beach Regional Sports Alliance.
