The dedicated service of Tidelands Health team members throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been formally recognized by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.
Tidelands Health received the chamber’s annual Community Service Award, which is presented to an organization that makes substantial contributions to the community through leadership or volunteerism. The health system received the award during the chamber’s annual meeting Thursday evening at the Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes.
“As the region’s largest health care provider, Tidelands Health was uniquely positioned to guide businesses, governments, organizations and community residents across Horry and Georgetown counties throughout the pandemic and continuing today,” Charlie Soto with Merrill said as he announced the winner of the Community Service Award. “Recognizing the dedicated efforts of staff across the hospital system to provide care, support and reliable information amid fear and uncertainty and with a need to continuously adapt, we present this award with our deepest gratitude to Tidelands Health.”
Through every phase and surge of the pandemic over the past two years, Tidelands Health has used an ever-evolving strategy to provide appropriate care, services, information and education to patients and the community.
The health system has administered more than 110,000 doses of the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccine, administered nearly 50,000 COVID-19 tests, cared for nearly 1,200 patients with COVID-19 in its hospitals and provided more than 1,900 monoclonal antibody treatments to patients in the early stages of COVID-19.
In addition, the not-for-profit health system has served as a go-to source of accurate, reliable information about the virus, offering crucial guidance for community members and leaders.
“Being honored with the Community Service Award is a testament to the compassion and sacrifices of our Tidelands Health team members, who have relentlessly fought COVID-19 from every angle while providing high-quality, compassionate care to our patients,” said Bruce Bailey, president and CEO of Tidelands Health. “While we hoped we’d never see a pandemic become reality, we are proud of our service to the community through the trying time. Our team has rallied to serve our patients and community, while the community has rallied to show support and appreciation. All of the kind gestures – including this esteemed award from the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber – mean the world to our team members.”
