YMCA of Coastal Carolina and Tidelands Health, two of the community’s leading health and wellness advocates, are joining forces to prevent disease, promote wellness and improve quality of life for people across the region.
Through the new relationship, Tidelands Health will become the exclusive health system partner of YMCA of Coastal Carolina, including Claire Chapin Epps Family YMCA in Myrtle Beach, the to-be-renamed Tidelands Health Georgetown Family YMCA and all future YMCA locations in Georgetown and Horry counties. In addition, the YMCA will assume management of Tidelands HealthPoint Center for Health and Fitness in Pawleys Island, which will be renamed Tidelands Health Pawleys Family YMCA.
The partnership will take effect Oct. 1.
“Tidelands Health and the YMCA share a passion for community service and a commitment to wellness,” said Ryan Finney, CEO of YMCA of Coastal Carolina. “Working together, we can improve access to evidence-based programs that will help everyone from children to seniors live a healthy, active life.”
Tidelands Health will provide health education programming in YMCA facilities, and YMCA members will benefit from seamless access to Tidelands Health services. Current members of Tidelands HealthPoint will have the opportunity to transition to YMCA membership and enjoy numerous additional benefits such as access to YMCA facilities across the region and state.
Bruce Bailey, president and CEO of Tidelands Health, said there are tremendous opportunities for collaboration between the two not-for-profit organizations, with the YMCA and Tidelands Health working together to address everything from childhood obesity to cancer survivorship.
“At Tidelands Health, we’re guided by our mission to help people live better lives through better health,” Bailey said. “The YMCA is guided by a vision to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
“Our two organizations have a long history of collaboration, and this new partnership will propel those efforts as we work together for the health of the communities we serve.”
