Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce Announces 2022-2023 Leadership Georgetown County Class

Pawleys Island, SC – The Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the participants selected for its 30th Leadership Georgetown County class.

Annually, the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce selects chamber member and non-chamber member leaders, through an application-based process, to participate in this unique 10-month experience that grants class members access to Georgetown County business and government leaders and significant sites throughout the county.  The fee-based program also offers the opportunity for hands-on experiences throughout Georgetown County communities.  Leadership Georgetown County unites diverse leaders in order to increase understanding of countywide issues and improve participants’ ability to lead effectively.

The Leadership Georgetown County class of 2022-2023 is comprised of 25 leaders representing a wide range of community businesses:

The Leadership Georgetown County class participated in an overnight opening retreat September 13-14, 2022, at Wampee Conference Center in Pinopolis, South Carolina, where they engaged in leadership skills training.  Going forward, the class will meet once per month, October, 2022 through May, 2023, for a full day to explore and examine the historic, social, economic, and political pieces that makeup Georgetown county.  Each curriculum day provides in-depth study of specific topics including History, Nonprofits, Economic Development, Education, State and Local Government, Health Care, Tourism and the Environment.  An overnight trip to Columbia, South Carolina is planned to observe and meet with state government leaders in March, 2023.  This year’s Leadership Georgetown County class kicked off with a program orientation on Wednesday, August 17 and will commence with a graduation ceremony in May, 2023.

The fact that professionals take time out of their busy schedules to learn more about important community issues is inspiring.”
