NIGHTSEEING: A PUBLIC TALK ON LIGHTING THE NIGHT

Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance is hosting a presentation called NightSeeing: A Public Talk on Lighting the Night. The event is next Friday, Oct. 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the HTC Aspire Hub in downtown Myrtle Beach at 509 9th Ave. N. There you’ll hear from urban lighting designer Leni Schwendinger who has worldwide experience illuminating architectural and public spaces. Leni’s public talk on Friday will focus on how Myrtle Beach can incorporate innovative urban lighting techniques to enhance economic vitality, facilitate social interaction and contribute to safety throughout our downtown area—especially at night. This event is open to the public and free to attend; however, capacity is limited and pre-registration is strongly recommended. REGISTER

NONPROFIT EXPO

Get to know area nonprofits better at the chamber’s Nonprofit Expo Oct. 27 from 3-6 p.m at the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Grand Strand Business & Conference Center. This event is free and open to the community. Refreshments will be served. Register

HALLOWEEN, SC

If you’re feeling ghoulish, head on over to Conway – or Halloween, SC as the city is known this October. The city’s month-long daily gatherings include movie nights, costume parades, spooky boat tours, and trunk or treats.

WINTER WONDERLAND AT THE BEACH

Have you heard? Winter Wonderland at The Beach is coming back to downtown Myrtle Beach starting on Nov. 17 and running through Dec. 23. This year’s event will have some exciting new changes. Check out WinterWonderlandatTheBeach.com for full details. The holiday lights this year will run along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk from Plyler Park south to 2nd Ave North and will be FREE to view. The new Family Fun Zone will be located adjacent to Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place at the sand volleyball courts and require a charge for entering.

There are also countless exciting community events being held throughout our beach that we hope to see you at. Here are just a few:

The Myrtle Beach Jeep Jam will be held Friday, Oct. 28 through Sunday, Oct. 30. Join thousands of Jeep owners for this 3rd annual event, which includes an off-road obstacle course, live entertainment, kids’ zone and more!

The 2nd Annual Myrtle Beach Fall Jerk Fest pays tribute to the unique flavor of jerk cuisine in Jamaica. The event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 30 along historic Broadway Street in downtown Myrtle Beach. Enjoy food trucks, an exclusive wine tasting, live music, and more.

The first-ever iLove Seafood Fest is happening on Nov. 4 and 5. The event will be at Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place in downtown Myrtle Beach and feature fresh seafood live entertainment and cooking demonstrations. This event has been postponed twice so be sure to show them some support by making it out.

On Saturday, Nov. 5, be sure to enjoy Brew at The Zoo At Brookgreen Gardens where you can enjoy tastings of more than 30 regional and national craft beers. Regional favorites, The Paul Grimshaw Band, will provide musical entertainment.

On Sat. Nov. 5, enjoy the Surfside Beach Family Festival and a day of live music, food trucks, a dunk tank and family fun. This is a free event; however, donations benefit the Garden City and Surfside Beach S.C.U.T.E (South Carolina United Turtle Enthusiasts).

Support the Family Justice Center at the Taste of Georgetown on Nov. 12 from noon to 3 p.m. in Historic Georgetown at the intersection of Front and Broad streets near Francis Marion Park. Tickets for the 10th annual Taste of Georgetown are $25 for 20 tickets or $15 for 10 tickets. Drinks are two tickets each and food samples are two to three tickets each. The raffle to win a golf cart will be held as part of the event. The raffle requires a minimum of 250 tickets and is limited to 400 entries. Each raffle ticket is $100.
