A public meeting on the Resiliency Element of Georgetown County's Comprehensive Plan is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in County Council Chambers.
St. Bernard Project (SBP) is the organization that was chosen as consultant to draft the county's Resiliency Element. Over the last three months, SBP worked to gather statistical data and information for this element of Georgetown County's Comprehensive Plan. SBP will present its findings during the meeting. Input and feedback from members of the public will also be accepted.
The Resiliency Element to the Comprehensive Plan is an "element that considers the impacts of flooding, high water and natural hazards on individuals, communities, institutions, businesses, economic development, public infrastructure and facilities, and public health, safety and welfare. This element includes an inventory of existing resiliency conditions, promotes resilient planning, design and development, and is coordinated with adjacent and relevant jurisdictions and agencies."
