United Way of Horry County marks its golden anniversary and celebrates 50 years of caring for our community and its people in 2023.

A Golden Anniversary Celebration will be held at the Historic Peanut Warehouse in
Conway on Thursday, May 18, 2023. Tickets for the event include heavy hors d’oeuvres by Buttercream Cakes & Catering, an open bar, entertainment by the Andrew Thielen Big Band, and more! Cocktail attire is requested.

Sponsorship Opportunities are available starting at $500.

In 1973, the nonprofit began as a small group of concerned citizens dedicated to finding the most efficient and effective way to address problems in the community.

Since then, UWHC has grown, changed, and adjusted as Horry County has done the same. All the while, the core mission has never changed.

“If there is one thing that the past few years have taught us, we don’t know what the next 50 years will bring us – or even what the next year will bring,” says Roof.

“We are constantly working to ensure that we are positioned to respond to the priority needs in our community, disasters, challenging economic times now, into the next 50 years, and well beyond,” Roof said.

As UWHC looks forward to the future as the recognized problem solver in the community, the organization is uniquely positioned to advance how individuals and families receive support through deep experience in serving the community and strong partnerships.

To honor the nonprofit’s history, follow along on social media as stories are shared each week of the essential moments in its history and hear from local people impacted by its work.

Tickets are available for purchase online at https://unitedwayhorry.org/goldenanniversarycelebration/.
