Today, Congressman Russell Fry announced the allocation of $28 million from the U.S. Army Corps for projects focused on ocean outfalls and stormwater mitigation in North Myrtle Beach. The funding, part of a larger $1.515 billion investment authorized by the American Relief Act, 2025, will be distributed over three fiscal years.
Congressman Fry expressed his support for the project, stating, "This funding is a major win for the City of North Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand." He emphasized the importance of such projects in protecting coastlines and improving public safety.
North Myrtle Beach Mayor Marilyn Hatley also highlighted the significance of this funding: “The $28 million in Supplemental Environmental Infrastructure Funding allocated for the North Myrtle Beach Environmental Infrastructure Outfall Project is an important step forward in addressing our stormwater and flooding challenges."
The distribution plan includes $500,000 for Fiscal Year 2025, $25 million for Fiscal Year 2026, and $2.5 million for Fiscal Year 2027. This funding aims to address both immediate needs and long-term resilience against environmental challenges.
