Congressman Russell Fry has announced nominations for seven high school students to be considered for appointments to U.S. Service Academies. These academies include the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
The nominated students underwent a rigorous application and interview process before being selected by Congressman Fry. The nominees are Shane Berquist from Lexington for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy; Ryan Carter from Hamer for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point; Charles Chapman from Florence for the U.S. Air Force Academy; Ryan Corcoran from Pawleys Island for West Point; Sophia Tilley from Myrtle Beach for the Naval Academy; Chase Ulisano from Myrtle Beach for both West Point and the Naval Academy; and Tyler Workman also from Myrtle Beach, who received nominations to three academies: West Point, the Naval Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy.
“It’s an honor to nominate these seven outstanding students to be considered to attend one of our U.S. Service Academies,” said Congressman Russell Fry. “Their commitment to this great country is both admirable and inspirational — if accepted, these students will unquestionably serve with integrity, bravery, and honor.”
