Congressman Russell Fry, representing South Carolina’s 7th district since 2023, recently addressed the public through a series of tweets concerning the wildfires affecting Horry County. Born in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, Fry has been active in local politics since serving in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Charleston School of Law.

On March 3, 2025, Congressman Fry warned about limited visibility due to smoke from active wildfires in the Grand Strand area. He advised caution for those traveling and provided a link for further updates on the situation: "Due to smoke in the Grand Strand area from active wildfires, visibility is extremely limited and caution is advised if traveling."

Later that day, Fry visited Station 39 in Carolina Forest to express gratitude towards @hcfirerescue personnel for their efforts in managing the wildfires. He also acknowledged over fifty jurisdictions across North and South Carolina assisting with firefighting efforts: "I just visited Station 39 in Carolina Forest to thank our incredible @hcfirerescue personnel for their service to the community and for their help in getting these wildfires under control."

In another tweet on March 3, Fry alerted residents about an air quality warning issued due to wildfire smoke affecting Horry County. He recommended caution when spending time outdoors and shared a link for more information: "An air quality alert has been issued for Horry County due to smoke from ongoing wildfires."
