Myrtle Beach’s Solid Waste staff will work Saturdays for the next few weeks to catch up on all of the yard waste generated by Hurricane Ian. We are focusing on garbage, recycling and yard waste. Bulky junk will be addressed on a case-by-case basis, so that we can use the knuckleboom trucks to pick up yard debris. In the next two days, staff will be working east of Kings Highway, between 44th and 62nd Avenue North. On Thursday and Friday, staff will be picking up yard debris east of US 17 (“the by-pass”), between 76th and 79th Avenues North.
As a reminder, City crews and their equipment are not permitted on private property for storm debris removal – this includes private yards, gated communities, mobile home parks, and developments with privately owned streets. Separate your debris by type – yard waste in one pile by itself. Comingled piles within the right of way will not be picked up. Please ensure debris is clear from overhead power/cable lines and buried infrastructure. Thanks for everyone's patience!
