Congressman Russell Fry, representing South Carolina's 7th district, has been actively engaging with his constituents and legislative duties through various initiatives and announcements on social media. Fry, who succeeded Tom Rice in 2023, has served in the U.S. Congress since then after a previous tenure in the South Carolina House of Representatives.
On November 17, Congressman Fry announced that "Team Fry will be hosting mobile office hours in Dillon and Georgetown this month!" The event is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Constituents are invited to seek assistance with issues related to Social Security, Medicare, the IRS, Veterans Affairs, among others.
In a subsequent update on November 18, Fry expressed pride over legislative progress by stating that "Today, I am proud to say my Grant Transparency Act passed the U.S. House!" The bill mandates government agencies to provide grant applicants with detailed descriptions of selection criteria and scoring methods as well as information on other merit-based evaluations.
Furthering his oversight responsibilities on November 19, Congressman Fry commented on the federal government's operations under the current administration. He noted that "Weaponization of the federal government was a cornerstone — not an exception — of the Biden-Harris administration." He also mentioned his participation in a GOP Oversight hearing where he intended to question FEMA’s Administrator regarding political influences affecting emergency aid distribution.
